After spending the morning and afternoon hiking the Opal Hills Trail, we decided to purchase tickets for the Maligne Lake Cruise on their last run for the day. We chose the classic cruise which cost $72 and included a guide who provided information about the area and a stop at the infamous spirit island.

We Love Canada!

Spirit island is one of the most photographed places in Canada. It is only reachable by boat or kayak and is known for its serenity. It is surrounded by mountains and green-blue glacial water. There are small hiking paths in the areas where the boat docks.

Would Never Tire of This Place.

The total boat tour was 1.5 Hours it took about 30 minutes to reach Spirit Island, we had 30 minutes to explore and take pictures and then another 30 minutes back to the main dock. We were the last boat of the day so we had Spirit Island and Maligne Lake on the way back completely to ourselves!

We enjoyed our time relaxing at spirit island after a full day of hiking. We didn’t know at the time, but we ended up on the tour during the best time of the day. It was the last tour, so there was no rush to get back and it was also a time for optimal photos due to where the sun was setting at this time of the day. Although this tour is pricey, we recommend adding it to your itinerary if you are planning a stay in the Jasper area.
